Welcome to the Cottage Hotel, South Devon

Devon's hidden jewel just five miles from Kingsbridge and Salcombe

Cottage Hotel Coronavirus status

Dear Cottage Hotel Guests,

We would like to thank you very much for your kind support and custom over the last few months in these rather difficult times.

We are currently closed with the lockdown and we are in the process of advising guests who have booked for December and January that we have sadly just made the decision to keep the Cottage Hotel closed until the lockdown is eased, hopefully in February.

Unfortunately, the worries of the current Covid situation, and the uncertainty of how the hospitality industry will be allowed to operate have forced this decision. With increasing cases in the local area, we feel the risk is too great. The safety of our customers and staff must be a priority.

This decision has not been easy, the risk we feel is too great with both local and national cases remaining high. With visitors travelling from all over the UK, the shorter days and Winter weather not enabling our lovely outside space to be used, we will be unable to provide a memorable experience for our customers as the festive season is all about being social and it will be difficult for everyone to maintain social distancing with an element of festive Christmas cheer. We are sorry we may have disappointed you, however we do hope that you understand our decision. We have considered everyone's safety, it has been a tough decision to make.

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and let's hope that 2021 will be more optimistic with a vaccine on the horizon.

We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you when we are able to re-open the Hotel.

Kind regards,
William and Sarah Ireland

P.S. If you would like to make your holiday plans whilst the hotel is closed you may either book online, email your requirements us or telephone 01548 561555. Please leave a message if we are unable to answer your call.

P.P.S. On a personal note, for those of you who knew our dear mother Janet, we wanted to let you know that she passed away on 13th November (non-Covid related).

Groups of more than six people

As from Monday 14 September new legislation states that social gatherings of more than six people in England will not be allowed. The Government plans to finalise any exemptions prior to the 14th September and we will update our policies at this time.

If you have a booking that is non-compliant we will allow a maximum of 6 people together at a table and we will accommodate the rest of your party at another table to comply with this. We will not accept any more than 6 people at a table to be compliant with the law which we are sure you will understand.

A traditional hotel with modern touches

The Cottage Hotel prides itself on being a traditional hotel, with old-fashioned service, comfortable lounges and delicious meals. Run by the Ireland family since 1973, personal service is key to our attitude. You are not just another number here, you are a name, and a name we often welcome back year after year

Hope Cove

Hope Cove is the sort of place you may remember from your childhood. Sheltered beaches, thatched cottages, and dramatic views. Whether it is playing on the sands with the children, walking the cliff paths, or just relaxing on our terraces and enjoying the view, you will not forget this hidden jewel of Devon.

A full range of food and drink

At the Cottage Hotel, there is no reason to go hungry. With our famous five-course dinners in the evening, to our modern "Allora" bar and naturally a genuine Devon Cream tea, there is something for everyone.
